Taking care of an ITE hearing aid

Remember to never ever put your ITE hearing aids in water!!!

You can wear them to the beach, but you should never wear them when swimming.

You should also remember to take them off before taking a bath or a shower.

It’s okay to wear your hearing aids when it’s raining a little (not when it’s pouring down) – don’t worry about that.

Since you cannot use water to clean your hearing aids, just wipe them clean with a soft cloth. You can also use a small brush to clean them.

Wax filter
Most ITE hearing aids have some kind of wax filter. This must be cleaned every day or replaced regularly. You might be able to change a filter yourself – maybe with the help of your parents – or your hearing care professional can help you do it.
